More Than Just A Mascot
Perhaps you've seen our mascot Ernie on our trucks around town or on this very site. What you may not know is that he's more than just the face of Accurate Door. He's an enduring tribute to our late President, Ernest Keith Jaeger.
Ernie was a huge fan of Thor. When the company was looking to design a mascot, they attempted to capture a superhero feel. Lisa Farley, Marketing Director of Accurate Door, says that you can learn a lot about Ernie from what he wanted the mascot to carry.
"That's a Surewinder over his shoulder," Lisa says of the silver and gold object dominating the image. "It's a garage door-specific tool for winding springs." Even as his own health deteriorated, he was looking out for those around him.
"Ernie made me promise weeks before he passed that I would make sure we had tools like this for our team," Lisa remembers. "He wanted to save backs and shoulders and make their jobs not just easier but more effective."
Ernie was more than just physically strong. One of his greatest strengths was his foresight.
After a health crisis in 2016, Ernie connected Lisa with Dean Wilkinson. Ernie was looking for someone to help modernize the company that his parents, Ronald and Geneva Jaeger, started in 1972.
"He didn't want us to keep it running as it was," Lisa remembers of her late husband. "He handed off the baton for us to expand, evolve and flourish."
Lisa says that Dean has grown from a guide into a coach and now a business partner. "It's like Ernie could see the future all the way back then."
